What is an ActionID?

An ActionID is the account you use to access services from NGP VAN and EveryAction such as NGP, VAN, Action Platform, EveryAction, Online Actions, and Targeted Email, etc. It includes the email address and password you use to log in, as well as additional security information that you use to access these services.

How many Action ID accounts do I need?

You only need one and you do not need to worry about remembering multiple passwords and usernames.

Can I share my ActionID with someone else?

The answer is: absolutely not. By sharing your ActionID, that means you are giving them access to services and organizations that we have granted you and that is against the Terms of Service.

How do I keep my ActionID secure?

You should always use a strong password that is unique to ActionID.

What is 2FA?

2FA/two-factor authentication/two-step verification provides an added layer of security when logging in, requiring a second piece of information only you should have access to when logging into your account from a new device. It protects against phishing, social engineering and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials.

How does 2FA for my ActionID account work?

When 2FA has been set up and you are logging in from a new device or browser, you will use your ActionID and password first, and then you will be prompted to enter a code that is texted to your phone.

Do I need to re-authenticate with 2FA each time I log in ?

If you choose to 'remember this device’, you will not have to complete two-step verification from that device and browser combination for 30 days.

I don’t have a smartphone - what do I do ?

You don’t need a smartphone for 2FA - you can set up by receiving texts on any regular phone.

Alternatively, if you have a tablet that is connected to the internet you can also use an authenticator app on there.

You also don’t have to use your own phone number. You can use a google voice number!

I don’t have a cell phone - what do I do ?

If you have a tablet, you can set up the authenticator app there and/or back up codes.

Otherwise, you can also use authy.com as an authenticator app because you can download it to your desktop and use it without the internet.

I have a new cell phone number

If you cannot access your ActionID at all even using a back up phone number or back up codes, you can email ActionIDSupport@ngpvan.com. This requires user identity verification by either NY Dems or NGP VAN staff. Save your backup codes.

Can you reset my password?

No. Use the correct forgot password link.

Can I use the same ActionID for more than one account/campaign/committee?

Yes! When you log in, you will be asked to select your Account, then your Committee. Be sure to select the right one for the work you are doing, as each account and committee will have access to different data!

How can I check if I have an ActionID?

If you are not sure you have an ActionID, check by going to www.accounts.ngpvan.com. Enter the email address you think you might have used, and click the “Forgot password” link. If you do not have an ActionID with that email address, your request will be rejected. If you have an Action ID, you will receive a link to reset your password.
